1/22/2012 Ride(s)
I’ll be leading the West Side’s Best Ride on Sunday, 1/22/2012. Again, this is an advanced ride, 125cc+ bikes only, please.
Meet at Thorntons, 7102 Charlotte Ave, 37209 any time before the ride starts at 11 a.m. I should be there by 10:30, and at 11:00, I will go over some of the hand signals and whatnot for anyone who has not ridden with us in the past. As soon as my spiel is over, we ride, so don’t dawdle!
After the ride, @scootervic is planning a 50cc-friendly ride through Percy Warner Park, which is also a challenging ride (don’t let the low speeds fool ya).
Hope to see ya!
Also, I have sworn off faceborg, so if someone wants to link to this over there, mucho appreciado.
is this an ashland city ride?
@scumdogmike — We get within a mile of it, but don’t cross the river to go into Ashland City, proper.
that map you did is confusing the hell out of me.
If you find Thorntons, you’ll be fine.
Also, that plus sign? Lets ya zoom in to see smaller portions of the map.
as much as i dont really want to, i think im going to skip this ride. last time i went on that route my scoot couldnt hang that well. it doesnt do good on rides that are 50+ miles. after a while he starts to hurt hehe. give it a couple of months and perhaps i’ll have something a little more road trip worthy. for the meantime, i think ill stick to tooling around in the metro area.
Understood, and no worries. We could text ya from the end of that ride if you wanted to meet us at PWP.
thats so far out from me. the ride over there will take longer than the pwp ride itself. all good.
That why I posted the challenge — find a ride that starts in your neck of the woods, ride it, record it (on a map, I mean) and invite us. We’ll show up!
i live off of nolansville rd. i dont know where a damn thing is out here! haha.
@scumdogmike — Sounds like you need a scooting coach. I’m looking for work, btw…
dont think i need a scooting coach…just a directional coach. hehe i also seem to have a different view on what is fun than some others i think. i like to ride for a little while, go somehwere, hang out and socialize for a couple of hours and ride a bit more. i dont think im much into the rides that take you miles out into the middle of nowhere. im a city boy and for the most part, prefer to stay within the city. did you see the video i made of me, norm and derrick riding through the city. the song that i put it to is titled “I Love the City”, it pretty much describes what i enjoy…I love seeing the bums, the smell of the sewer, pollution from the cars, the giant buildings and signs and red lights and crouds. thats where my heart is. not to say that i dont enjoy getting out of town for a few, but its rare. hehe
Heh… I was, of course, joking. There’s nothing wrong with city riding, and as anyone here can tell ya, I’m perfectly content to ride somewhere, have a beer, and hang out. I like to ride places I haven’t been before… and if there are a lot of curves and hills between where I am, and where that is, all the better for me.
@scumdogmike I’d still more comfortable with the city rides too. There is still so much of Nashville that I haven’t seen.
I’m going to try to meet up with you guys at Thornton’s and just hang out for a few minutes. When you guys head out, I’ll backtrack a block or so and get some coffee/brunch at Coco’s Italian Market. Anyone is welcome to join me.
It’s a 1/2 hour ride for me to just get to Thornton’s, so that should be enough to see how the new battery and mirrors are working.
@aries, call me when you are leaving thortons. 205 886 6843 – ill join ya!
