Goin’ downtown.
This post is going to make our very own @jprestonian extremely happy.
It looks like KymcoUSA is launching the Downtown 300i in the US after all. Kymco has added it to their website, Kymco USA. Philidelphia Scooters announced it on twitter.
And finally, we get wowed with this video. Though it was uploaded on June 24th it’s a sign that is getting hard to ignore.
Retailing for a cool $5600, its another fuel injected bike which is a great trend for the USA. So what say you folks? Is this a buy or not?
**Update!**
It looks like this bike is ready for special order for the US. So anyone want to jump in for a 300cc fuel injected bike?
Oh, hells to the yeah. Just waitin’ to hit Powerball.
You realize, of course, that the video is of the People GTi300, not coming to U.S. shores (at least not anytime soon), right?
Rumor has it that Kymco will not be shipping any carb bikes in the U.S. to dealers after 1/1/2011. All fuel-injected, which ought to be interesting in the 50cc market.
yeah, but really, that video is too good to pass up. and i mean good in the worst way possible.
so would that lead to performance gains on the 50cc?
I can’t imagine that much performance gain… a 4-stroke 50cc can only do so much, really. But, it ought to cost $200 more, and get better gas economy, if that helps.
I think I could have fun on that thing.
367 lbs dry! Thats a big girl! IMHO that is just too heavy for scoot.
Whats wrong with EFI fiddies? Yammer-ha has a nice 3 valve EFI 4-stroker 12:1 fiddy. A well designed/tuned EFI system has many advantages of carbed fiddies.
So Matt, im totally ignorant on this one. what all would an EFI 50cc bike have over a carb’d cousin?
367lbs dry is what Big Red Ugly weighs!
.
id say in it’s current state BRU is at least 20 pounds lighter…
More like 50. But yeah.
